Arsenal travel to the City Ground in hopes of exercising some demons from last season when a 1-0 defeat to Notts effectively killed their title chances. Arsenal come into this game fresh off of a 12 day break after a thumping 5-0 win over Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest however had a scoreless draw against Bristol City in the FA Cup over the weekend.

Football Today Host Alex Donnelly believes that the Gunners should be too strong.

“The break post Christmas did the Gunners a world of good and they showed that by winning easily against Crystal Palace.” Donnelly explained “They have now had another 10 days off which helps Declan Rice and Gabriel get over knocks they took in that game, Arsenal should win this handily.”

A cause for concern for Nottingham Forest is they have lost four of their last five league games at home with losses coming to Bournemouth, Tottenham, Everton and Brighton all teams which are below Arsenal currently.

TIP: Arsenal by two or more goals

ASTON VILLA vs. NEWCASTLE

This is shaping up to be a very different scoreline to the one earlier in the season, where Newcastle won 5-1 at home, as now Villa are six spots ahead of the Magpies and looking strong in the top four.

The Villains are also a different beast at home, winning 16 of their last 17 matches at Villa Park and have won the last four meetings there between these sides.

In contrast to this, Newcastle have the second worst away record in the league this season at 1-2-7, they have a huge build up of injuries and their leader Kieran Trippier is arguably in career worst form.

With 13 goals in just the last three meetings, this will be the game to watch as two of the league’s top five offences clash. But with Ollie Watkins’ amazing form of 17 goal contributions already upfront and their unbelievable home record, Villa should get a comprehensive win here.

TIP: Aston Villa & Over 3.5 goals

LIVERPOOL vs. CHELSEA

Anfield, Thursday 7:15pm AEDT

Although Chelsea have finally found some strong league form winning four of their last five matches, this couldn’t be a worse time to visit Anfield.

The Scouser faithful and players will be fired up after legendary Manager Jurgen Klopp has announced he is leaving at the end of the season and Liverpool are flying on top of the table.

Producing an insanely absurd stat, the last seven meetings between these sides across all competitions has been a draw.

But with Diogo Jota relishing his increased minutes for the Reds, scoring a brace last game and Liverpool winning 15 of their last 17 home matches, ninth placed Chelsea will have their work cut out for them here.

TIP: Liverpool -1
