FIFA CWC to shake-up Ballon d”Or race
Barcelona won’t be in the Club World Cup due to relatively poor European results from the 2021-22 to 2023-24 seasons.
It means teenage whiz kid Lamine Yamal won’t get the chance to further enhance his hopes of becoming the youngest ever winner of the Ballon d’Or.
PSG striker Ousamane Dembele is the favourite to take out the gong after taking his French side to the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League final.
Yamal, 17, helped take Barcelona to the Champions League semi-final and La Liga title, and is a genuine candidate for world football’s highest individual honour.
Brazilian icon Ronaldo remains the youngest Ballon d’Or winner at 21 years and three months.
