Australian Arsenal fan goes viral after Tottenham EPL ticket fail

This young Aussie is lucky English football hooliganism is just about a thing of the past after his epic Premier League ticket fail.

The English Premier League famously features some of the fiercest rivalries and most loyal fanbases in all of sport.

While the days of intense violence in and out of stadiums that once plagued the sport has thankfully just about been stamped out of the game, hatred among some fans remains as strong as ever.

One of the most heated clashes in football is the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham, a match-up that has been going for well over a century.

The latest instalment was held on Sunday night Australian time at Tottenham Stadium between a title-chasing Gunners team and a Spurs side still in with a shot of a top-four finish.

In an entertaining clash, Arsenal took a 3-0 lead into halftime and then withstood a Spurs comeback for a 3-2 victory.

This is where a young Aussie comes in, a bloke being called the “bravest Arsenal fan in the world”.

The as-yet unnamed Australian from Sydney decided to book a last-minute ticket to fly to London and watch his beloved Gunners in the massive game.

Most of his family is from London and they are all huge Arsenal fans.

The only issue? The ticket he booked was to sit among the Tottenham fans, a massive footballing faux pas.

The story became known to AFTV Media, an Arsenal supporter group that has over 3.5 million followers across YouTube, Instagram and X.

“We had a brave performance today and I’m standing next to one of the bravest men in the crowd,” an AFTV host said on a video from outside the stadium.

“I looked up and saw you undoing your jacket with the Arsenal top amongst the Spurs fans.

“What happened?”

See there is an added twist to the story that goes beyond simply buying the wrong ticket.

“I just got off a plane last night, from Sydney Australia,” the fan begins in the video you can see above.

“I come straight to Tottenham Stadium. I bought my ticket in Sydney (and) I didn’t realise I was in the Tottenham section.

“Obviously we win 3-2, I go up to the barrier, and I see all the Arsenal fans.

“I couldn’t help myself, I honestly couldn’t help myself.”

The act he couldn’t help was opening the blue and grey jacket he was wearing to proudly display his bright red Arsenal shirt underneath.

High up in the stands, surrounded by Spurs supporters, he then raises his right arm and pumps his fist in celebration towards the Gunners fan section.

As the camera pans away, you can see Spurs fans pointing in his direction.

The young lad did well to get out of the stadium fully intact.

In years gone by, this likely would not have had a happy ending.

But he could smile and tell his story in a video that’s been viewed 157,000 times on X, with 2,500 comments and over 300 retweets.

It also has over 22,000 likes on Instagram and more than 21,000 views on YouTube.

Most of the comments came from Arsenal fans praising the young Aussie.

“Shout out to our brother from Australia … kept it real and undercover,” was one comment.

“This is mad brave, how do you do this?” asked another.

“Hero. And to be fair, that was brave. Lucky not to get a slap. Legend,” added a third.

“That’s one thing I like about the Aussies, they just don’t give two hoots,” wrote another.

“What a legend,” posted another. “Thank God he survived.”
