SOUTH KOREA edged the Socceroos 1-0 in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Who starred and who struggled?

Read on for our player ratings and cast your vote in our interactive player rater below.

1. Mathew Ryan. 7

Little he could do about South Korea’s first-half goal. Brilliant one-on-one save at the death.

2. Ivan Franjic. 6

Had his hands full in attack and defence but was an effective link man. Goal came down his flank.

6. Matthew Spiranovic. 7

Near impossible to beat in the air, ensuring the South Koreans would have to attack with width. Will rue his second booking for the tournament.

20 Trent Sainsbury. 6

Solid without making much of an impact on the ball.

13. Aziz Behich. 6

In the wars all night but one weaving run early in the second-half showed he has skill as well as grit.

21. Massimo Luongo. 7.5

Australia’s most dangerous player. His pace and energy frequently split the Koreans but he lacked the consistency of the earlier two outings.

5. Mark Milligan. 7

The stand-in captain did not let his team down and was precise with every touch.

17. Matt McKay. 7

Busy, tenacious and involved. He was cool on the ball threaded some nice passes.

14. James Troisi. 6.5

Slippery and a terrific workrate without getting a reward, lacked the killer ball.

9. Tom Juric. 6.5

Two shots in the first 20minutes and had his chances without much success.

16. Nathan Burns. 7.5

Created Australia’s first opportunity through pressure. He was hungry to show coach Ange Postecoglou he deserved another start and deserved a goal for his efforts.

Substitutes

7. Mathew Leckie. 5

Worked his way into some dangerous areas after coming on the 60th minute.

10. Robbie Kruse. 6

Had an immediate impact and was denied an equaliser only by a great save from Kim Jin Hyeon.

4. Tim Cahill. 5

Classy left-foot cross with his first touch and gave the South Korean keeper a headache, literally, with his desperate late attempted header.
