ASSOCIATION of Australian Football Clubs’ officials have demanded an independent inquiry into the sacking of Matildas coach Alen Stajcic.
Stajcic was dismissed last Saturday, just five months before the Matildas 2019 FIFA women’s World Cup campaign after leading them to two AFC Asian Cup finals and the last eight of the Canada World Cup in 2015.
Matildas goalkeeper coach Paul Jones also quit on Friday six days after assistant Nahuel Arrarte walked away and Saturday’s sacking of Stajcic.
It is sickening. The impact itâs having on him and his family should make people be a shame of themselves. https://t.co/DvVlYfBbi3

AAFC chairman Rabieh Krayem says member clubs were “dismayed”, claiming the new Football Federation Australia board and congress needed to now protect the reputation of the game.
“Of course, we cannot comment on the decision taken to dismiss Mr Stajcic — not least because the members of the football community have not been offered a proper reason,” penned Krayem.
“You put the current board in place.
“You must now act on behalf of the football community to insist on a proper independent investigation of the issues; not just related to the dismissal of Mr Stajcic, but the broader issues implicit in his dismissal concerning the management and operations of the women’s game in Australia.”
