A-League regular season to consist of 29 rounds with the addition of Auckland FC

A-League men’s teams will play one less regular season match this season despite the addition of a new club.

The 2024-25 A-League men’s season will kick-off on October 18, and consist of 29 rounds and a six-team finals series.

Despite the inclusion of a 13th side, Auckland FC, teams will play 26 regular season matches, one less than last season.

Each team will have three byes during the season, with the finals set to start on May 9 and conclude with the grand final on the weekend of May 30-June 1.

The fixture schedule has yet to be released by the Australian Professional Leagues, but the full details for this season’s Unite Round.

As previously reported, Unite Round will take place on November 22-24, with all men’s matches to be played at Allianz Stadium, including the derby between Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers, and all A-League women’s games to take place at Leichardt Oval.

“Marquee match-ups will headline each day across two distinct hubs,” A-League commissioner Nick Garcia said.

“We’ve taken on board feedback from fans, clubs and partners and have made a few changes to make Unite Round 2024-25 bigger and better.”

The A-League women’s season will start on November 1, with the grand final scheduled for the weekend of May 17-18.

Men’s (all games at Allianz Stadium): Friday, Nov 22: Perth Glory v Western United, Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners; Saturday, Nov 23: Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United, Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers; Sunday, Nov 24: Wellington Phoenix v Melbourne Victory, Macarthur FC v Auckland FC. Bye: Melbourne City

Women’s (all games at Leichhardt Oval): Friday, Nov 22: Adelaide United v Wellington Phoenix, Western Sydney Wanderers v Brisbane Roar; Saturday, Nov 23: Newcastle Jets v Western United, Central Coast Mariners v Melbourne Victory; Sunday, Nov 24: Canberra United v Perth Glory, Sydney FC vs Melbourne City.
