ADELAIDE United chairman Greg Griffin says SA sports minister Leon Bignell’s attack on soccer fans not being able to fill Hindmarsh is deplorable.

Mr Bignell reportedly told a journalist the government would not build SA soccer a new stadium because fans cannot fill Hindmarsh Stadium.

Hindmarsh had its capacity recently reduced from 16,500.

“The capacity is 14,500,’’ Griffin said before United is expected a full house when hosting

Sydney FC on Friday. “They will not let us sell tickets beyond that.

“This is misleading we could have filled it against Victory and we chose not to play there because it’s our obligation to grow the game.

“The comments show a lack of knowledge and lack of regard for soccer, all they do is provide funds to FFSA (Football Federation) in Labor seats.

“The facilities at Hindmarsh for a sport with the most participants in SA across all ages does not match interest.”
