SA’s best Socceroo of the modern era, James Troisi, has been tabled an offer from Adelaide United in an effort to bring him home

Adelaide United is negotiating to secure SA’s Socceroo 2015 AFC Asian Cup hero James Troisi.
The 31-year-old is back in town training alone after moving from Melbourne where he has been playing with the Reds’ arch-rival Victory since 2016.
However, the Reds - who won through to their straight FFA Cup final on Wednesday night — aren’t alone in the battle for his signature.
Uncontracted Troisi has been tabled offers from a current UEFA Champions League club, two clubs in Asia after rejecting an offer to extend his contract from his former club Melbourne Victory.

It’s understood the Reds are in advanced negotiations for Troisi who became an instant Australian cult hero when he scored the winning goal in the Asian Cup final in Sydney in front of 76,385 fans.
Troisi met new coach Gertjan Verbeek last week before the club tabled the attacker an offer.
Troisi preferred not to comment.
If Adelaide do secure his services it would be a homecoming for the former SA Burning Ambition Academy graduate who joined England’s Newcastle United in 2006.
That year Troisi was on the bench alongside Andy Carroll and Fraser Forster at the Stadio Renzo Barbera in Sicily in a 2006 UEFA Cup tie before a move to Turkish football where he starred for Gençlerbirliği and Kayserispor.
He was on the books of global giant Juventus and loaned out to Atalanta as part of a co-ownership deal in Italy’s Serie A.
He also made a huge name for himself in Belgium where he scored cracking goals for Waregem after a loan stint with Victory.
Able to use both feet comfortably Troisi played 105 games for Victory scoring 27 goals and had stints in the Chinese Super League and Saudi Arabia.
