FORMER Adelaide United captain and coach Aurelio Vidmar has taken the reins at Thai club Bangkok Glass — raising the remote possibility of him coming up against the Reds.

The prospect of Vidmar facing Adelaide United in the AFC Champions League next year is remote but not impossible.

Vidmar was last night named coach of Thai club Bangkok Glass — former stamping ground of ex-Reds assistant Phil Stubbins.

Vidmar will coach ‘The Rabbit’ for the rest of the season and has a one-year option on his contract.

Vidmar’s new club is sitting third, 12 points clear of an AFC Champions League play off place and 13 points adrift of first spot and a direct spot in the international club tournament, with nine rounds remaining.

His new job sees Vidmar return to coach club football for the first time since 2010 when he won the role of assistant Socceroos coach under former head coach Holger Osieck.

He was also Olyroos boss.

Vidmar was in the job until this year before being cut loose by Football Federation Australia when his contract ended.
