Adelaide United’s W-League boss Ivan Karlovic says playing all of its six home fixtures at Marden Sports Complex will be a blessing for his side and that it wouldn’t miss Hindmarsh Stadium this season.

Having served as the Reds women’s team home base for the first four W-League seasons, Adelaide played just one match at the club’s A-League Hindmarsh home last season.

And following the release of the W-League fixture on Friday, this season the Reds will play all their games at Marden, joining fellow W-League outfits Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory in playing at different venues from their A-League brothers.

“The girls really enjoy playing at Marden, it’s home for us,’’ said Karlovic after Football Federation Australia released its fixtures for the 12th W-League season.

“It’s a nice boutique venue.”

Adelaide and Western Sydney will feature in the W-League’s season opener in Sydney on November 14. All 14 Thursday night matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and My Football Live app.

Four double headers with A-League clubs and 14 stand-alone matches will be broadcast on Fox Sports, ABC, Kayo and My Football Live App on Sunday afternoons.

With just 27 days before the Reds kick off, Karlovic revealed his side had officially started pre-season this week with training sessions at Adelaide City Park, Oakden.

Karlovic said the side then plans on a move to Marden once the pitch recovers after a heavy winter season of use from the venue’s custodians Blue Eagles.

And with 11 players signed for the new season Karlovic said the Reds were keen on signing four visa players.

“We’ll fill the 18 player roster minimum,’’ Karlovic said.

“We’ll determine whether or not we can add more to the squad and we’ve got international players to come in as well.

“It’s been hard this year with internationals (players) we have to wait for their club commitments to finish and then in terms of finalising the agreements.

“The (US) national women’s soccer league finishes in two weeks and it’s been difficult because of the FIFA women’s World Cup in France (this year), Olympic qualifiers and so many other factors in terms of the (W-League) season aligning.

“We just want to continue to improve this season.”

Karlovic revealed the side had already played one friendly match — against Adelaide City’s under 14s on Wednesday.
