Adelaide United’s teenage international stars Louis D’Arrigo, Lachlan Brook and Jai King-Byrne aren’t expected to be granted a Reds holiday once they return to the club after winning a major prize in Asia.

The trio return from international duty on Wednesday.

Brook, 18, scored the winner in the ASEAN Football Federation U-18 final in a 1-0 win over Malaysia in Vietnam on Monday night in Vietman.

D’Arrigo, 17, was credited with the assist.

“We’ll get straight back into it (Reds A-League) training when we get back and that’s on the same day as the FFA Cup (match v Olympic),’’ D’Arrigo said.

The Reds trio had just completed a gruelling seven matches in 14 days.

Birkalla product D’Arrigo captained the Young Socceroos and featured in five of the past five games.

Brook had scored three goals, playing in four matches and ex Raiders player King-Byrne featured in two internationals after he was discovered by the Reds in 2016 when he was part of the MIC Cup tour of Spain.

“We lost to Malaysia in the group stage (3-0), so we were not about to suffer again in the final” Brook told aseanfootball.org

“The win will be good for our continued development towards the AFC qualifiers.

"We were really hungry to show that we are a better side.

“On top of that and it being a final, we were really hungry to show that we are a better side.

“And with the display we put on today I think we showed that.”

Adelaide United v MetroStars

Brook has been playing on the right wing in Vietnam — a position which he has adapted to.

D’Arrigo has been playing in the No. 6 role.

It’s a position which new Reds coach Gertjan Verbeek is keen to see how last year’s Foxtel Y-League player of the year performs when he gets home as the Dutchman looks to replace the pre-season loss of skipper Isaias.
