Despite Adelaide United’s NPL match against Adelaide Olympic being postponed, the Reds’ A-League clash against Newcastle will go ahead at an open Hindmarsh Stadium.

Adelaide United and Newcastle Jets’ scheduled A-League Sunday clash will go ahead at an open Hindmarsh Stadium after a Reds reserves player self-isolated when a school classmate was detected with coronavirus.
However the Adelaide and Wellington Phoenix clash on April 5 in Wellington is in doubt after the New Zealand government on Saturday imposed a 14 day self-isolation for international arrivals into the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Football South Australia on Saturday afternoon postponed all grades of the Adelaide United and Adelaide Olympic NPL matches – seniors, reserves and under 18s – scheduled that evening at Angle Park.

The Adelaide United reserves NPL player that attended Sacred Heart College self-isolated since Friday.
He was absent from Reds training on Friday at Playford.

“FFA is in regular contact with Adelaide United and is comfortable the club is managing this matter in accordance with government policy and medical advice,’’ said a Football Federation Australia spokesman.
“The recommendation to all clubs is to continue following advice from federal and state governments and from their chief medical officer.
“Based on the information currently available, the Hyundai A-League fixture between Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets at Coopers Stadium on Sunday, March 15, will proceed as scheduled.
“We will continue to monitor and review.
Professional Footballers Australia chief executive John Didulica says the players union is “satisfied that Adelaide and the player have taken all necessary precautions as per government and World Health Organisation advice and protocols.”
"We are confident Adelaide will continue to monitor the situation and place the welfare of players at the forefront of their operations,’’ Didulica added.
"The game will continue to manage this crisis in a unified way in line with government policy and the best health advice."
An Adelaide United spokesman said the Reds reserves player has not had any contact with players, coaches, or staff from the Adelaide United A-League squad.
“In accordance with government protocols and recommendations, the Club is ensuring all its players, coaches, and staff are following stringent hygienic practises to protect the wellbeing of all,’’ said an Adelaide United spokesman.
“The club will continue to follow medical advice provided by government and FFA with regard to the management of COVID-19.”
