Al Hassan Toure is counting the days until he hears Macarthur FC fans ringing cowbells for him as their newest recruit.
The former Adelaide United player, who has moved out of home for the first time to join the Bulls, said he has joined the club to get “more minutes” and to “further his career’’ and is thrilled at the challenge ahead.
“As a young footballer it is important to get on more, to keep learning and improving,” said the 21-year-old who moved to Australia with his family from Guinea at the age of four.
The forward is also looking forward to connecting quickly with Macarthur FC fans.
“I think I will bring some speed and a bit of personality ... I love to get a reaction from fans and entertain them,’’ he said.
“That’s my strength. I want to be hearing the cow bells. I want to be a fan favourite.
But Toure is less happy about some of the things he will have to do off the pitch - mainly housework.
“This is my first time being in a new city, being away from my family,” said Toure, who has four brothers and a sister and has always lived with his parents.
“I have to cook for myself and do my washing and clean after myself. That’s the one downside.
“My mother gave me a few cooking lessons but I need to teach myself more because I’m not very good.”
Toure’s skills are on the field with the youngster progressing through the ranks of Australian football at speed, playing in the Australian under 23 squad and scoring on debut in 2019.
He also played a major role in the Olyroos qualifying for this year’s Tokyo Olympics before fracturing his ankle.
“I have goals to be a Socceroo, my main goal is to represent my country,’’ said the forward.
“If I could play at the Olympics that would also be great.’’
Macarthur coach Ante Milicic believes the signing of Toure will strengthen his squad.
“I believe he can maximise his potential with consistent performances on the training pitch and match days, and I look forward to watching him grow,’’ Milicic said.
“I’m sure Al Hassan will settle in well with the playing group and get to know what the club is all about.’’
