SACA president Andrew Sinclair lauds mandate for change to its constitutional and legal structure

WHY SACA president Andrew Sinclair lauds mandate for change to its constitutional and legal structure.

This will be cricket for the 21st century: Foxtel CEO

SOUTH Australian Cricket Association president Andrew Sinclair has lauded a mandate for change to its decades old constitutional and legal structure.

Proposed reforms required more than the 75 per cent approval meaning SACA will now transition to a nationally recognised not-for-profit organisation that is governed under a modern new constitution.

SACA noted all member rights are preserved but gaining 94 per cent support of 6896 members who voted on reforms underlined a mood for reform. Change to SACA’s constitution will include the introduction of tenure limits for board members. Board membership will be reduced from 13 to 11.

“My sincere thanks to every SACA Member who took the time to consider and vote on the proposal,” Sinclair said.

“With almost 7000 SACA members having voted, the significant majority vote provides a clear endorsement for the implementation of the changes.

“This is an important step to position cricket in South Australia for a positive future.

“SACA’s purpose will remain – to promote and develop the game of cricket in South Australia and, in doing so, to provide quality experiences for members.”

A select government committee’s final report “On the SACA Premier Cricket Merger decision’’ in March last year criticised the governance structure of SACA board.

The transfer to SACA’s new constitution and legal structure is expected to take place effective 1 July 2018.
