The South Australian Cricket Association has slashed membership fees for this season as it deals with the COVID-19 fallout.
Fees for 2020-21 full memberships have been cut by $50 from $365 to $315 as the SACA braces for an uncertain season where some cricket could be lost – or fans inconvenienced – because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“SACA understands that many in our community have suffered as a result of the pandemic and the way in which you normally access cricket at Adelaide Oval may also be impacted,’’ said SACA chief executive Keith Bradshaw.

“The $50 discount has been given in recognition of the financial impact of the pandemic on our community and to compensate members in advance for any possible inconvenience.’’
SACA is scheduled to host a historic Test match between Australia and India at Adelaide Oval from December 11-15 (it will be India’s first day-night Test), a Twenty20 International against India on October 17 and a One-Day International against New Zealand on Australia Day.

Adelaide Oval is also scheduled to host seven prime-time Adelaide Strikers Big Bash League matches, along with Sheffield Shield, One-Day Cup and WNCL games.
SACA said it remained confident the fixtures would go ahead as planned but that COVID-19, which could result in reduced crowds like the AFL and SANFL, could throw a spanner in the works.
This could result in members having to go in a ballot and sit in an allocated reserved seat;
not being able to purchase a transferable associate card or daily guest passes or
a restricted Village Green.
A credit scheme against a member’s 2021-22 SACA fee or further membership discounts will also apply should COVID-19 lead to significant disruptions.
“The credit mechanism recognises that SACA memberships are more than just a season ticket or ‘fee for service’ to attend cricket matches,’’ said Bradshaw.
