FORMER Australian one-day paceman Daniel Worrall’s could miss the start of the domestic season after his debut county stint was sabotaged by foot stress fracture.
Worrall has flown back to Australia after breaking a metatarsal bone in his foot 10 days ago. The 26-year-old required surgery in Melbourne on Monday (today) to repair the fifth metatarsal on his left foot. Worrall had been in fine form taking 16 County wickets at 21 for Gloucestershire before the injury.
Swing bowler Worrall, with 152 first class wickets at 28, is ideally suited to English conditions and Dukes ball. Worrall will pursue a six-week rehabilitation period and push to be fit for South Australia’s JLT series which begins in mid-September.
One Test paceman Chadd Sayers is also on the comeback trail after an off-season knee clean-out.
