Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton has set a new world record with the fastest ever T20I century, taking just 33 balls to reach triple figures and fire his nation to victory over Nepal.

The 22-year-old came in with Namibia sitting at 62-3 in the 11th over and blasted 11 fours and eight sixes on route to 101 off 36 deliveries.

In the process he broke the record owned by one of his opponents, as Kushal Maila’s 34-ball century against Mongolia previously held the record.

Malla could only add 32 as Nepal failed to chase down the Namibia total of 206-4.

Unsurprisingly Loftie-Eaton was named player of the match, also taking two wickets.

Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in a 2013 IPL match remains the overall record.
