MATT Renshaw today rejoined the Queensland Bulls at training and his return to cricket seems nigh.
Renshaw, who is having a break from the game after being dropped from the Bulls Sheffield Shield team, did run throughs during the lunch break of Queensland’s Shield match against Victoria at the Gabba.
Heat coach Darren Lehmann was surprised by Renshaw’s sudden withdrawal from cricket and is hoping to re-sign him for next summer.
Lehmann, who is recovering from heart surgery, said Renshaw gave no hint during the Big Bash of any issues that would drive him from the game.
“For me, he was great throughout the Big Bash so I did not see any of that really,’’ Lehmann said.
“When he was with use there were no problems at all’’.
The Adelaide Strikers are set to offer Renshaw a long term deal to join them next season and beyond though Lehmann is hopeful he will stay in Brisbane.
“We would love to keep him. I think the kid had great leadership ability but we will have to see how that plays out of the next little way.
“He had a good Big Bash so he had issues behind the scenes you never really know about. Hopefully, fingers crossed he will get back’’.
