In the past three seasons, the boundary bonus has been worth an extra 20+ points eight times.

When Callum Ferguson plundered 113 not out for Sydney Thunder against Perth Scorchers last summer, he accumulated an extra 24 points thanks to eight fours and eight sixes, boosting his overall score to a monster 197.

Adelaide Strikers opener Jake Weatherald went one better in the BBL07 final, producing a knock for the ages with 115 from 70 balls with nine fours and eight sixes.

These are the current BBL players who have earned the most boundary points in the past three seasons:

D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes) $262,800 BAT-BWL 255 boundary points

Short has clubbed 141 boundaries and smashed 57 sixes in the past three BBL campaigns at an average of 1.7 sixes and 4.1 fours per innings. That equates to an extra eight SuperCoach BBL points every time he bats. He’s the second most-expensive player of BBL09 but he’s worth every penny.

Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat) $173,000 BAT 173 boundary points

One half of Brisbane’s ‘Bash Brothers’, Lynn averages 7.2 boundary points a game, almost on par with Short’s record of 7.5 since the start of BBL06. He launched 26 sixes and hammered 17 fours in only five games three seasons ago, compiling 309 runs. There have been few players as destructive as Lynn in BBL history.

Jake Weatherald is only $108,900 after a below-par BBL08 tournament.

Jake Weatherald (Adelaide Strikers) $108,900 BAT 146 boundary points

Strikers opener Weatherald enjoyed a tournament to remember two summers ago when he blazed 383 runs with 35 fours and 19 sixes. That campaign included his jaw-dropping ton in the BBL final which netted 25 boundary points. If he recaptures top form he’ll be a bargain at a low starting price.

Daniel Hughes (Sydney Sixes) $115,500 BAT 130 boundary points

Hughes boasts an impressive 94 boundaries in the past three seasons and 18 sixes. Sydney Sixers open BBL09 with five games in three rounds and a player of Hughes’ consistency should be in the mix for your SuperCoach BBL side.

Ben McDermott (Hobart Hurricanes) $118,300 WKP-BAT 130 boundary points

Australian T20 batsman McDermott has recorded at least 11 sixes in each of the past three seasons. In BBL06, he belted 11 sixes and 12 fours in just three innings, an indication of his power-hitting prowess.
