SuperCoach BBL import guide: Every international signed for BBL15 profiled
Babar Azam. Shaheen Shah Afridi. Sam Curran. It’s a who’s who of international T20 stars signed for BBL15. We profile the 24 overseas signings and reveal who will have the biggest impact.
First came Babar Azam.
The biggest signing in BBL history — at that stage at least.
“He is a world-class player and a proven leader. He’s not only a huge addition to our club, but to the league as a whole,” Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes said.
That was June 13.
Then on September 25 came the groundbreaking signing of Indian legend Ravi Ashwin by Sydney Thunder.
“I really am struggling to put it into words, if I am being honest,” Thunder general manager Trent Copeland said.
“Biggest signing in the history of the BBL. A real clear message to our fans and our members in particular, but also our players, staff, all of our sponsors that Thunder are winning these moments...all eight clubs wanted this guy. Ashwin has chosen us.”
Ashwin’s deal was only supposed to be three games — then it became the full season.
Unfortunately, he has since withdrawn due to knee surgery.
But Ashwin’s signing highlighted the increased pulling power of the BBL to attract some of world cricket’s biggest names.
Brisbane Heat could claim Shaheen Shah Afridi is just as big as Babar and Ashwin too.
The Renegades would say similar about Mohammad Rizwan.
The eight BBL franchises have never collectively assembled this level — or depth — of international talent.
SuperCoach BBL teams will have some of the world’s premier T20 players to choose from this summer, plus a host of proven talents who are returning down under.
