THE COACHES
The Phantom, Tim Michell, Al Paton, Dan Batten, Tom Sangster, Brice Mitchell, Azza, Damo, and Ben Somerford.
THE TEAM
Wicketkeepers
With a double-game round first up, Sixers star Josh Philippe was the overwhelming choice, featuring in all nine teams. Cheap options Harry Nielsen (Strikers) and Matthew Gilkes (Thunder) were in six teams, with Nielsen getting the nod as the back-up keeper in the consensus side, with Gilkes on the bench as a batter.
Batters
Another KFC SuperCoach star who will feature twice in the opening round, Tom Curran, is also in every one of our experts’ teams, while Heat master blaster Chris Lynn isn’t far behind (8). Sixers value option Daniel Hughes (6), Strikers cheapie Matt Short (6) and Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell (5) were next on the list. Given the top-end talent on the field, Short slots in at the fifth batter sport, with Aaron Finch (5) on the sidelines.
D’Arcy Short (Hurricanes), Marcus Stoinis (Stars) and Dan Christian (Sixers) were the only three players to feature in four of the nine teams and not make the side, due to balance and the salary cap.
Bowlers
Heat spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who will play twice in Round 1, is the most popular bowl-only player, featuring in seven teams. Brisbane teammates Xaiver Bartlett and Jack Wildermuth were in six, while England T20 star Chris Jordan found his way into five of the nine teams, after signing with the Sixers last week. While Short, Stoinis and Christian missed out, Strikers T20 gun Rashid Khan was the player selected in four expert teams that made the cut here. And every side had Hurricanes cheapie Josh Kann on the bench somewhere.
Others who just missed out: Ben Manetti (3), Daniel Sams (2), George Garton (2)
