PICK A TEAM IN FIVE MINUTES

1. You have a $2 million salary cap and 16 players to pick. You need 7x batsmen, 2x wicket keepers and 7x bowlers. Use almost two thirds of your cap Sixers, Heat and Thunder. They have double games in round one and scores from BOTH games count, so clearly have a massive advantage. The most popular players from these teams are:

- Josh Philippe (Sixers) $123,000

- James Peirson (Heat) $62,500

- Chris Lynn (Heat) $173,000

- Moises Henriques (Sixers) $101,500

- Tom Curran (Sixers) $210,000

- Oliver Davies (Thunder) $42,000

- Lloyd Pope (Sixers) $62,500

- Jason Sangha (Thunder) $62,500

- Tom Banton (Heat) $125,000

- Matthew Gilkes (Thunder) $96,700

- Ben Cutting (Heat) $182,900

- Max Bryant (Heat) $129,500

- Daniel Sams (Thunder) $170,200

- Mitchell Swepson (Heat) $98,500

- Alex Hales (Thunder) $125,000

- Chris Morris (Thunder) $125,000

- Sean Abbott (Sixers) $195,300

2. Now you need a few cheapies. The most popular bargain buys are:

- James Peirson (Heat) $62,500

- Cameron Green (Scorchers) $42,000

- Moises Henriques (Sixers) $101,500

- Oliver Davies (Thunder) $42,000

- Caleb Jewell (Hurricanes) $67,300

- Simon Milenko (Hurricanes) $62,500

- Lloyd Pope (Sixers) $62,500

- Harry Nielsen (Strikers) $75,400

- Jason Sangha (Thunder) $62,500

- Matthew Gilkes (Thunder) $96,700

- Marcus Harris (Renegades) $62,500

- Mackenzie Harvey (Renegades) $71,900

- Jordan Silk (Sixers) $86,300

- Hilton Cartwright (Stars) $65,400

- Nick Winter (Strikers) $42,000

- Henry Thornton (Sixers) $42,000

- Mark Steketee (Heat) $81,600

3. Fill the rest of your side with your favourite players.

4. Pick a captain. He earns double points. The best captaincy options are from the Sixers, Heat and Thunder as they play twice in the first round.

5. Pick your best starting XI. Only the scores of these players count to your round score. However, it’s still important to have a strong set of non-scoring bench players as they earn money for your salary cap to spend at a later date (player prices move up and down like a stock market depending on performance).

6. Join a league and start sledging your mates.

7. During the season, you have three trades per round (39 total over the 17 rounds) to build your side into a SuperCoach powerhouse. Unused trades are not transferable. SuperCoaches then have unlimited trades for Rounds 14-17 (finals) as the number of BBL teams still live in the competition reduces.
