After an incredible 13th-placed finish in SuperCoach AFL, Mike Hussey has set his sights on KFC SuperCoach BBL glory.
The Aussie cricket great was one of the top AFL SuperCoaches in Australia, finishing 59 points outside the top-10 in a competition with more than 160,000 registered coaches.
Bragging rights in the Fox Cricket commentary box will be on the line this summer as Hussey vies with colleagues including Shane Warne and Isa Guha to take out the network’s KFC SuperCoach title.
“In summer there’s just been plenty of banter between the commentators,” Hussey said.
“Isa Guha is a very competitive SuperCoach player and takes it pretty seriously.
“She’s already flicked me through her team and her team is looking pretty good.
“She’s probably the one to watch, she won our league the first year we played.”

Hussey has gone for the formula many KFC SuperCoaches have opted for, loading his starting team with Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes to take advantage of their early doubles.
The Stars play twice in the opening round of KFC SuperCoach and the Hurricanes share a Round 2 double with Adelaide Strikers.
“Stars heavy and then I also wanted to look ahead a little bit,” Hussey said.
“I tried to get a couple of Hurricanes in there as well, obviously with the Strikers being on the bye first round.
“But I was keen to have one Striker on the bench and then in Round 2 I’ll look to get two or three Strikers in.
“It probably does look a little bit too Stars heavy at the moment but I’m sure that will work itself out in the first few rounds.”
Hussey tossed up between Josh Inglis and Josh Philippe for his wicketkeeping role before settling on the Perth Scorchers gloveman due to his impressive start to the summer.
“I was looking at other keepers but a lot of them aren’t going to be available for the first few rounds,” he said.
“I was keen on (Jonny) Bairstow but obviously he’s not going to be there.
“I just thought the way Inglis played last year was superb and he’s got off to a really good start in the Sheffield Shield season as well.
“He should bat at the top of the order while (Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy) are away.”
Stars gloveman Seb Gotch (15 per cent of teams) only averaged 20.9 points last season, but Hussey is keen to capitalise on his Round 1 double.
“Ordinarily Gotch would be on my wicketkeeping bench and (Ben) McDermott would be playing,” he said.
“But just because he’s on the double, if he can contribute once that’d be really handy.
“(Hilton) Cartwright, I’m hoping he’s going to bat in the top three so hopefully there’s a good opportunity for a score in him there.
“It just comes down to balancing out the money.”
Australian one-day and T20 skipper Aaron Finch is the other player in Hussey’s plans, but he hasn’t been able to fit him into his initial budget.
