Cameron White is certain to earn another chance for the Melbourne Renegades with captain Aaron Finch defiant that his Big Bash career was not over.

White, 35, is coming out of contract at the Renegades and Victoria and was dropped for Monday night’s win against Hobart Hurricanes.

There is unlikely to be room for White against Brisbane Heat on Thursday night with Test opener Marcus Harris certain to replace Finch, who has joined Australia’s ODI squad.

But Finch said that with eight group matches remaining plus possible finals White would get another chance.

“It’s definitely not the end by any means for Cam,” Finch said.

“Experience wins you tournaments and Cam’s been a huge part of this team and this club for a few years now.

“He’ll get another chance no doubt, and that will go a long way to helping us win the tournament.”

Coach Andrew McDonald told White at training on Sunday he had been dropped after averaging 12 runs at a strike-rate of 85.7 in the first five matches.

Vice-captain Tom Cooper is averaging just 9.8 runs this season and is another veteran feeling the heat.
