Big Bash fans won’t forget Mitch Owen’s innings in Monday night’s final anytime soon.

The 23-year-old equalled the fastest century in competition history, coming off 39 deliveries, as the Hurricanes secured their first title in dominant fashion against the Sydney Thunder.

Craig Simmons had previously held the record for the quickest ton after producing a blistering innings for the Perth Scorchers back in 2014.

Owen hit 108 runs off 42 balls including 11 6s and six 4s on to propel the Hurricanes into pole position before he was eventually dismissed.
