The third Test has finished in a draw, but not before an injury concern to one of Australia’s best sent shudders through the squad.

India dodged a bullet and celebrated an unlikely draw after the fifth and final day of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba.

The tourists were facing an uphill battle ever since Travis Head led Australia to 445 in its first innings after losing the toss and being sent in.

But the fickle Brisbane weather had the most impact on the contest, with constant rain delays pushing everyone’s patience as the match meandered towards a draw.

India frustrated Australia’s bowlers on the fourth day of play as they avoided the follow-on thanks to an impressive 47-run last wicket stand between Akash Deep (31) and Jasprit Bumrah (10 not out).

The home side declared its second innings on 7/89 late on the final day, leaving India requiring 275 runs for victory.

But the weather intervened yet again, with India managing just 2.1 overs in reply before the match was finally called off, with the series still locked at 1-1 with two Tests to play.

Man of the match Head appeared to pick up an injury for Australia in a worrying sign, while an Indian great stunned everyone with his post-match press conference.
