North Cairns Tigers will look to bounce back from an opening-round loss when they meet Saints in Cairns Netball Association’s Senior Division 1 competition on Wednesday night.
Captain Rachel Campion said last week’s 23-goal loss at the hands of 2019 grand finalists Leprechauns was a learning experience for the club.
She hoped the extra week of training would help sort out some of the side’s teething problems, with regular goal attack Shelby Grant still two weeks away from a return.

“Both of our shooters are goal shooters, so we don’t actually have a goal attack at the moment,” she said.
“We really struggled in the midcourt against Leps, so we’ve been working on that at training, figuring out how to make that combination work with two holding shooters.”
Campion said she expected the Tigers’ new front-court pairing of Lavinia Lapalapa and Rhiannon Coleman to step up against Saints.

“Lavinia normally plays shooter but we’ve had to push her out to goal attack,” she said.
“I’ll be looking to her to really own that circle and command her space.
“She’ll need to step up when she takes the goal attack bib, which I have no doubt she will.
“She’ll come out a lot stronger and more confident in herself after our first game.”
In other Round 2 fixtures, Fierce will be chasing their first win against Cutters, while Sharks and Leprechauns will meet in a highly-anticipated rematch of last year’s overtime thriller, which Sharks won 46-45 to claim the premiership.
