DANNY Green’s biggest fear isn’t Anthony Mundine before the Man v Machine boxing bout at Adelaide Oval, it’s catching a common cold.

Looking super fit and confident at Adelaide Airport on Thursday, Green, 43, says he is in the best possible shape for a rematch against his bitter rival.

“Hopefully there’s no injuries ... don’t get a cold because the immune system is pretty low,” Green said on Thursday.

“You’re so fit because you have battered your body for nine or 10 weeks but ready to rock.”

After Mundine claimed a unanimous points decision in their only previous fight at the Sydney Football Stadium in front of more than 34,000 fans in 2006, Green says the ‘Man’ is not his biggest concern.

“The hard work has been done and now it’s a matter of just sharpening up and putting the final touches on,’’ Green said.

“We’ve got one or two hard sessions left but we have really worked super hard for a long time and now we’re coming into sharpening up and tuning up and getting all the tactics down.”

Green arrived in town with two sparring partners and is expected to knuckle down to some more conditioning work before refining his plan after spending six weeks in Melbourne preparing for the bout.

But when asked why Green came to Adelaide a few days later than Mundine, who had his chance to impress a new legion of fans, the ex holder of the WBA light-heavyweight title, IBO cruiserweight title and WBC interim super middleweight title’s demeanour changed.

Green’s tone became very serious as soon as Mundine was mentioned.

“My job is to be a fighter mate,’’ Green said

“I’ll get the job done on the third on the Friday night.

“That’s what counts, that’s when the fans will be happy.”

And suggestions Mundine would be disadvantaged because Green is heavier, reportedly weighing 83kg irked the Perth-born boxer.

“Weight is no issue, I am on weight,’’ Green said.

“That weight advantage if he (Mundine) wants to come in at a lighter weight that’s up to him.

“The weight has been set, he played footy (NRL), first grade football heavier than I have ever weighed.

“So he has been a bigger man than me naturally before and that’s his choice.

“So they’ll be maybe 3kgs difference when the bell goes it’s all weight talk, it’s all bullshit.”

Mundine, 41, has not fought since losing to Charles Hatley in 2015 for the WBC Silver super welterweight title.

Mundine has a career record of 47-7-0 but has lost three of his last six fights.

Green last August defeated Kane Watts by unanimous decision for the vacant Australian cruiserweight title.

It was his first fight in a year and took his career record to 35-5-0.

Green also revealed he has never seen a sports event at Adelaide Oval but claims the iconic venue, built for Australian rules football and cricket is perfect for the grudge match.
