HOW hard is Anthony Mundine hitting now? Archrival Danny Green is about to find out, but for the moment the person to ask is sparring partner David Aloua.
The 29-year-old Kiwi, who will be fighting on the undercard at Adelaide Oval next Friday night, has been sparring with ‘The Man’ ahead of his rematch with Green.
Big-bodied Aloua, who will be fighting at cruiserweight (90.72kg), has been emulating what it will be like for Mundine to take on a bigger opponent.
“Yeah he’s heaps strong,” Aloua said of Mundine this week.
“It’s the speed that makes the power, and the timing. Green is strong too but with his (Mundine’s) timing and boxing skills and speed all combined together (it) makes him really dangerous.
“He’s heavier then when he used to fight so he’s not drained, he’s feeling strong and fit.”
Aloua takes on Filipo Fonoti Masoe after a two-year hiatus from the ring.
“I got married had a kid and moved to Melbourne from New Zealand,” he said.
“I had top 15 world ranking but I lost it to Aussie Anthony McCracken two years ago, so this is my first fight back and I’m excited, stoked to be in camp for the last two weeks and finish sparring with Choc.”
