Here are this week’s Hometown Heroes:
Jerome Randle (Adelaide 36ers)
This bloke is why kids want to go to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to watch the 36ers, he bleeds excitement.
Furthermore, there’s not much more exciting than a late winner, which stunned the Spark Arena.
Jordan McArdle (Adelaide Giants)
The young Giants gun helped Adelaide overcome a five-run deficit to stun Melbourne 9-7 and claim another series.
The Giants now sit second in the Southwest standings, one win behind Perth and one ahead of Melbourne.
SA Redbacks
FINALLY!
After nearly two years, the Redbacks finally got the monkey off the back by defeating Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield.
Jake Weatherald was massive in the first knock, but Harry Nielsen (86 not out) and debutant Will Bosisto (47 not out) were sensational.
Keith Thomas (Port Adelaide)
The first AFL entry on this list and it’ll be rare across the summer until the AFLW starts, but ‘KT’ deserves his spot.
After nine years at the helm at Port, Thomas will end his tenure as the club’s chief.
He’s overseen some of the club’s darkest days and led it back into the light.
Erin Phillips (Adelaide Crows)
After a horrendous knee injury threatened her career in the AFLW Grand Final, the competition’s greatest player has said she’ll be back.
The 34-year-old is crucial to the success of not only the Crows, but the competition as a whole.
