SuperCoach NBL: Expert coaches reveal their plans for round 13
No player has scored 40+ points in four consecutive NBL games since 1991. But in SuperCoach NBL, even that can’t save Bryce Cotton. And, that’s because the run home is all about getting two players in — fast.

You don’t succeed in SuperCoach NBL without making a few sacrifices.
And, with Montrezl Harrell and Kendric Davis costing more than $950,000 combined, sacrifices have to be made ahead of a run of Adelaide 36ers double.
Here’s how our experts are playing it ahead of round 13 — including one who’s bucking the trend of jumping on Adelaide’s star duo.
MATT HICKEY
Rank: 138
IN: Montezl Harrell, Jarrell Martin
OUT: Jack White, Matt Hurt
Two 36ers in for the deadly forward combo of Jack White and Matt Hurt. Always feels odd to trade out such big scorers but they are on singles and Adelaide has a nice run of doubles. Jarrell Martin is a slight POD, hoping that he plays 20+ minutes in both games and can produce a 45 or more SuperCoach points. I would have loved to bring in Sam Froling, but fell around $8k short, the move however does mean I have close to $100k to play with next week.
CHLOE WILLIAMS
Rank: 710
IN: Montrezl Harrell, Lat Mayen
OUT: Jack White, Carlin Davison
Pretty simple this week: need Trezz, (desperately) don’t need Davison. Easy!
JESS ROBINSON
Rank: 1265
OUT: Jack White, Sam Mennenga
IN: Montrezl Harrell, Hyunjung Lee
Trez is the obvious choice this week and I’m well and truly on the bandwagon. Jack White and Sam Mennenga make way while im putting faith in Illawarra’s Hyunjung Lee.
And yes, Carlin Davison remains stuck on my bench..... I just needed cash for Trez, ok!
MICHAEL RANDALL
Rank:1483
OUT: Jack White, Cam Oliver
IN: Montrezl Harrell, Kendric Davis
But, this might change!
TIM MICHELL
Rank: 515
IN: Xavier Cooks and Derrick Walton Jr
OUT: Alex Higgins-Titcha and Jack White
But Tim, you don’t have Harrell or Davis … are you insane? Yes, yes I am. Higgins-Titcha has been a millstone in my team more or less since I got him and I have had enough after he dropped more than $20k last round. By moving him on it means I need to settle for value, which is where Walton Jr comes in. SEM don’t have a double this week, but he’s a guy who only a few seasons ago was pivotal to Sydney’s success. I would rather get on now than pay more when the Phoenix next have a double. Cooks is my cut-price attempt to match Harrell – let’s see how badly this backfires.
PATCH
Rank: 273
OUT: Jack White and Bryce Cotton
IN: Kendric Davis and Montrez Harrell
Trading out the seventh and second-highest averaging players for the first and fourth feels like good business, especially with the 36ers on the cusp of a run of doubles. There’s simply no more tinkering happening here – these are the best moves I could make. I quite like Sam Froling and might look at him next week, and Darius Days and Alex Toohey are serious value. But there’s no value better than two guys projected to score 108 and 85 this week. Lock it in.
JAYMZ CLEMENTS
OUT: Jack White, Matt Hurt
IN: Montrezl Harrell, Casey Prather
Back in high school, a mate of mine drank as much ‘drinking’ yoghurt as they could on a dare … and, as a result, predictably (hilariously) blew chunks.
In this case, trading out Jack White and Matt Hurt is the drinking yoghurt dare: trading out two of the top five SuperCoach scorers isn’t exactly the smartest of moves, but with both on singles, Trez (on a rampage) and Prather (as long as Bannan remains out – he has three 40+ scores in his last five games) have the higher scoring upside. To extend the metaphor, the hope is my score this week isn’t the blowing of chunks. But judging from how my season is going, it’ll be out-of-the nose gear.
