SuperCoach NBL 2025: How the scoring system works

The SuperCoach NBL scoring formula is simple enough to follow on TV or courtside. Check out this quick explainer – and who to consider for your team.

As with other SuperCoach formats, the scoring formula for SuperCoach NBL has been developed to reward the best performing players on court.

And the scoring is system is simple enough to follow along while watching games courtside or on TV.

For starters, players receive one SuperCoach point for every point they score on the court – a free throw is worth one point, a field goal is worth two points and a three-pointer is worth three points. Makes sense, right?

But points aren’t everything.

Players are also rewarded for rebounds (one point), assists (two points), blocks (three points) and steals (three points).

A turnover results in losing two points.

A big way for players to boost their SuperCoach tally is by recording a double double – double figure numbers in two categories, for example 10 points and 10 rebounds – which is worth five SuperCoach points.

Look for players who can score in multiple categories – last year Bryce Cotton led the league for average points per game (23.15) and also ranked top-10 for steals and assists. Melbourne United’s Matthew Dellavedova was the No.1 assist player while Tasmania’s Will Magnay had more blocks than any other player.

Centres and forwards are most likely to snare the vital double double and triple double bonus points, so nailing those positions is crucial.

There is also no penalty for missed shorts, so look for high-volume players who play a lot of minutes and take a lot of shots.

For guards the assist to turnover ratio crucial – you want to score more points than you lose.
