South East Melbourne Phoenix and import centre Keith Benson have mutually agreed to part ways.
Benson will not suit up for Sunday’s sold out game against the Breakers at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna.
“We thank Keith for his contribution to our first year in the NBL,”
Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer said. “He’s remained ready at all times and has been the consummate professional.”
Benson struggled to find a regular place in the Phoenix rotation.
His best performance came in Throwdown III when he dominated at both ends of the floor to record 20 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.
The Phoenix are exploring all options in terms of signing a replacement player, but until that time development player Will “Davo”
Hickey will travel with the team.
