The Adelaide 36ers are offering their top-level members unprecedented access to coach Joey Wright’s post-game press conferences as part of the club’s move to the Entertainment Centre this NBL season.

The club’s ‘platinum’ membership which costs $896 includes access to sit in on one of Wright’s post-game media conferences per member per season.

The 300 platinum memberships are almost sold out and the concept has been approved and endorsed by the NBL. It will be for Wright’s press conference only and not the opposition coach.

“We think it’s quite innovative for our club to allow our members to go behind the scenes and see some of the inner workings including the press conference,” Sixers chief executive Ben Kavenagh said.

“Behind the scenes access and with a growing media presence we think it will be of significant interest.”

It is anticipated that about 30 platinum members would sit in with the basketball media at each of Wright’s post-game addresses this season.

Kavenagh said he did not have concerns about fan behaviour either during games or at the press conferences.

“We will obviously walk through the requirements with them,” he said.

“But we have a very family-friendly environment and we wouldn’t envisage that being a problem.”

The 36ers are also re-introducing a fan’s MVP award this season whereby members can vote on their favourite player from the season.

Membership went on sale to the public on Monday after Kavenagh reported record year-to-date member retention since the announcement they were leaving their Findon home for the AEC on Port Road.

“Before the season starts we are also looking to have an open training and members information day at the AEC where people can sit in their seats and those who are unsure about what is still available can come and have a look,” Kavenagh said.

Kavenagh said ‘platinum’ and ‘gold plus’ memberships were almost sold out as were corporate courtside seats for the inaugural season at the venue.

The 2019-20 NBL fixture is yet to be released but the 36ers are expected to return to Utah to play an NBA pre-season game against the Jazz for the second year in a row.
