That’s a wrap! There were some outstanding performances from the Generation Next of Australian surf life saving at the youth titles. Stars, standouts and result wrap.

The Generation Next of surf life saving has been giving it their best at the youth championships at the Australian surf life saving titles on the Gold Coast.

There’s been great action from the start of the event on Saturday and Sunday with some stunning performances in the surf and on the sands.

STARS AND STANDOUTS ON DAY TWO OF THE AUSSIES YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

They were yelling encouragement to each other on the final wave and it helped Jayda Zammit-Mayer and Rome Southwell to their fabulous win in the U14/14 board rescue on Sunday

The pair, both 15 and school mates at Cronulla High, were on a wave with two other rival teams in the race to the finish.

“We were screaming, ‘we’ve got to do this, we’ve got to do this’,’’ an elated Southwell said.

“We are just so excited. We didn’t think that was going to happen.’’

Belmont surf life savers Daisy Breasley, Zanthe Calov, Kaitlin Rees had plenty to say after their stunning win in the U13/14 board relay.

“Amazing. So good. Awesome,’' they said. “We are just so proud of each other.’’

The trio are now looking forward to being presented with special green jackets honouring their feat.

The results just keep coming for North Curl Curl pair Pipi Te Pania, 13, and Zara Kasprowicz, 14.

After winning numerous medals on Saturday the pair combined to take out the board relay in their age group.

“It was just really good to win,’’ Te Pania said.

The North Curl Curl winners.

When it comes to excited, Mona Vale swimmer Macy Beuzeville wins the prize.

In one of the first events on the second day of Aussies she swan to a gold medal in the 2km open water swim U14 age group.

“I felt really confident because I can do 5km,’’ said the Mater Maria student who does pool, surf club and open water swimming.

“That’ the first 2km I have ever done. The adrenaline started pumping up after I turned the last can. I just knew I had to keep going.’’

Layke Shipley from Warilla Barracks won the U15 event and North Curl Curl’s Luke Higgs, who had a big day out on Saturday, won the U14 event from Newport’s Noah Maggs.

His brother Connor Maggs finished second to North Cottersloe’s Johann Szymanski in the U17 racing while Daisy Quinn from Caloundra won the U15s.

North Cronulla’s Kaitlyn Williams was an early winner on day two of the championships with her sensational victory in the U13s beach flags event watched by a huge crowd.

“I’m very happy and excited about how I went,’’ said the 13-year-old after her win.

“It is so good to have this experience. The other girls are very competitive and so good as well.’’

South Maroubra speedster Josh Ballard continued the NSW domination of the beach flags event with his win in the U14 age group.

The Waverley College student admitted he was nervy at the start but delighted for the win after putting a lot of hard work into his first Aussies campaign.

“It was hard, stressful, I was very nervous on the line,’’ said the 14-year-old.

STARS AND STANDOUTS ON DAY ONE OF THE AUSSIES YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

One of the first medallists of the day was Pipi te Pania from North Curl Curl who had to produced a blockbusting sprint to win her first Australian crown in the U14 board.

“The board is one of my best legs but it was pretty close and we both had to run as hard as we could,’’ she said after edging out Swansea Belmont’s Kaitlin Rees.

The 13-year-old from Mackellar Girls High and coached by Michael Clues at the northern beaches club and later in the day went on to win a bronze in the surf race and a silver medal in the ironwoman in a great day out.

U13 sprint winner Isabella Evans from Wollongong City after her Aussie title win.

He was a star of the titles last year and Alexander Walker started his 2022 campaign with a bang – and win in the U15 board race.

The Cooks Hill teenager won an early Australian crown with his defeat of Elouera rival Angus Jarolimek.

“I’ve been looking forward to this because we haven’t raced in a while,’’ said Walker who missed out on competing at the NSW championships when they were cancelled due to the NSW floods.

The 14-year-old Newcastle High student is also racing the swim and iron events.

Youth athletes from across Australia are competing.

Tulley Elliot from Redhead did the Hunter proud with her victory in the U15 female board.

It was a NSW sweep of the podium with the Redhead star beating a pair of rivals from Sydney in Olivia Clues and Rome Southwell.

“It was so hard but so good though,’’ said the 15-year-old.

“I was at Aussies last year but this is so much better.

“The top three are from NSW and we are good friends. It was nice winning beside them.’’

Under 15 sprint winner Kobe Sorensen from North Cronulla couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.

She has a famous father and uncle but Zara Kasprowicz is going her own way in sport.

The talented swimmer, whose father Simon played rugby with the Waratahs and uncle Simon was an Australian cricketer, took out the U15 swim race at the championships.

The 14-year-old from Pittwater House has also won a 200m U13 Australian crown in pool swimming.

“I do a lot of pool swimming and love it. Hopefully the Olympics might be in my future,’’ she said.

Just half an hour later she was back winning a second Australian crown in the U15 ironwoman race, finishing ahead of North Curl Curl’s Pipi Te Pania

Competitors come in all sizes at the youth championships.

Luke Higgs had a game plan and he stuck to it with great success sin the U14 ironman.

The North Curl Curl 13-year-old managed to hold out a pair of Queensland young guns for the victory.

“I didn’t know what would happen. It was up for everyone,’’ he said.

“I just tried to paddle with the top group and came home in the swim.

“It’s a dream come true honestly,’’ said the 13-year-old from Central Coast Grammar.

There was close competition in the boy’s board racing.

Western Australian Zahra Buckley produced a tun of blinding speed to win the U15 beach sprint.

It was a maiden Australian title for Buckley, from Sorrento.

Kobe Sorenson was one of the fastest men on the sand on Saturday.

The North Cronulla 15-year-old won the U15 beach sprint crown – the same race he won a year ago on the Sunshine Coast.

Redhead surf life saver Kane Edwards is the new Australian iron champion in the U15 age.

The 14-year-old said the victory “meant a lot’’.

“It’s for the community at Redhead. For everyone,’’ he said.

“I knew I had to get in there and give it my all.’’

Zoe Nichols didn’t have to travel far to win her first Australian crown on Saturday.

The youngster from Currumbin won the U14 beach sprint ahead of her bid to also win the beach flags on Sunday.

“I've never won one before. It feels really good,’’ she said.

“Now I’d like to do well in the flags.’’

Another youngster who broke through to win his first Aussies crow was Guy Ormond who dominated the U14 beach sprint.

The Queenscliff surf club member who lives at Dee Why, was delighted with his success.

“I was hoping to do well but it; 's always a relief to do it,’’ he said.

Dom Melbourn has a great Aussies last year and she started the 2022 in fine style by winning the U15 swim.

The 15-year-old Narrabeen Sports High student won the iron race in 2021.

On Saturday she added a surf title to her achievements.

“There were some good conditions to race in,’’ she said.

“I’m just having fun.’’
