Chelsea have beaten Crystal Palace 1-0 to tighten their hold on a top-four place in the English Premier League.
N’Golo Kante’s goal was the difference at Selhurst Park on Sunday as fourth- placed Chelsea moved five points clear of Arsenal.
“It is never easy to play here or control it here especially when they play long balls but we did well,” defender David Luiz told Sky Sports.

“We could have scored early but they also did a great match defensively which is why it was so difficult.” Chelsea controlled play in the first half with Willian and Ross Barkley clipping the post and Olivier Giroud having a goal disallowed for off-side against the striker.
The breakthrough finally came when Luiz looped a ball into the area which Kante brilliantly controlled with his chest and turned to slot home past Vicente Guiata in the 51st minute.
“It is a move I have tried in training,” Kante said.
“It doesn’t work many times but David gave me a good ball and I am happy to score with my left foot and help the team win.
“It was all about the pass.” Giroud later had another goal wiped out by the off-side flag, while Wilfried Zaha and Connor Wickham lashed rare Palace efforts over the bar in the dying moments. Chelsea have 43 points, one behind champions Manchester City and two back of second-placed Tottenham, while Palace remain 14th on 19 points. Man City are looking to go second at Southampton, Burnley are hosting West Ham and Manchester United seek a third straight win under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when they take on Bournemouth in Sunday’s other matches.
