Woodville-West Torrens ready for ‘unbelievable test’ against powerful Port Adelaide side, says coach Michael Godden
EAGLES coach Michael Godden says taking on Port Adelaide this Easter Monday will be an “unbelievable test” for his unbeaten side.
WOODVILLE-West Torrens coach Michael Godden says taking on Port Adelaide at Woodville Oval this Easter Monday will be an “unbelievable test” for his unbeaten side.
The Magpies should have up to 15 Power-listed players in their squad again this week and are coming off a staggering 152-point belting of Glenelg at Alberton last weekend
“We won’t come up against a bigger challenge this year,’’ Godden said.
“Their top-ups are genuine league players which gives them some solid depth.
“I think they got a bit of a shock in round one against Norwood but clearly they changed things last weekend.
“I can’t remember a result like that for a long time in the SANFL.
“From our point of view it is just an awesome challenge and we’re excited about it.”
A big crowd is predicted at Woodville and Eagles sponsor Maughan Thiem Hyundai has vowed to give away a car to a spectator should 8000 people pass through the gates.
Godden said his side must tidy up the disposal errors which hampered it in a scrappy 10 point win against West Adelaide last start.
“Early wins are crucial especially when you’re not quite sure what the competition is going to dish up,’’ Godden said.
“But to be honest I was disappointing with the way we played.
“It’s a credit to the group that we won but I don’t think we really go going …
“We work really hard to win the ball but we’re making basic skill errors going forward.”
Port will need to keep close check on the Eagles’ 173cm pocket-dynamo Lachlan McGregor, who has kicked 10 goals in his first two matches after coming from Great Southern Football League club Langhorne Creek.
