WOODVILLE-West Torrens Football Club chief executive Uby Faddoul has resigned less than a year into the job.

Mr Faddoul, who started in the role in December, told Advertiser.com.au he had stepped down today to pursue other avenues.

He said his decision had nothing to do with last night's decision by the SANFL directors to allow the Adelaide Crows into the competition next year.

"There's nothing sinister behind it," Mr Faddoul said.

"It's an opportunity I've taken to make a call for myself to step away and re-evaluate things.

"The club's left in good hands. We've done a good job there and I'm certain it'll end up in a good place at the end of the year.

"The timing was right for me to move on to something else."

Mr Faddoul said the club was in a good position heading into the finals.

"The campaigns and the strategies are all in place to finish off the year the way we had planned it," he said.

"The passion I have for the South Australian football industry has in no way wavered.

"The Eagles are a great, respectable club within the community and we've done some great work this year to strengthen the Eagles.

"I feel very comfortable in what I've been able to bring to the club over the past eight months or so."

Eagles president Kurt Slaven would not comment on Mr Faddoul's resignation but a statement on the club's website thanked him for his contribution.

"During his time he has launched a series of successful business lunches and events in the refurbished function centre, secured new sponsors and achieved a new record for paid memberships," the statement said.

The club's board will meet next week to determine how Mr Faddoul's role will be filled.

The Eagles play North Adelaide at Prospect Oval tomorrow at 2.10pm.
