West Coast premiership player Adam Hunter dies, aged 43

The AFL world has been rocked by another tragedy, with a premiership hero found dead overnight at the age of 43.

West Coast premiership hero Adam Hunter has died, aged 43.

A member of West Coast’s 2006 premiership team, Hunter was found dead just after midnight in Bunbury, south of Perth.

A statement from WA Police confirmed Hunter’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

“About 12.20am this morning, 5 February 2025, police and St John Ambulance were called to a residence in Withers upon a report of a non-responsive male,” the statement said

“Upon arrival paramedics immediately commenced first aid, however; the man could not be revived.

“The 43-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene. The death is being considered non-suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.”

Hunter played 151 games at the Eagles across eight seasons, highlighted by a premiership in 2006.

His death follows a tragic day for the AFL community that mourned the deaths of Troy Selwood and Dale Tapping on Tuesday.

Hunter was premiership teammates with Selwood’s twin brother Adam.

Hunter kicked 29 goals in the Eagles’ 2006 premiership-winning season, including the final goal of the grand final, and finished third in the club’s best and fairest in 2007.
