Videos: Vote to decide SA’s AFL trick shot king
Check out these three amazing videos and pick the best one to help decide who is SA’s AFL trick shot king.
THEY are all amazing shots but which one of these astounding acts of sheer footballmanship do you consider to be the best trick shot and worthy of winning The Advertiser’s amateur footy trickshots competition?
Is dobbing the Sherrin into a wheelie bin from a cliff about 40m away, bending the ball around the goalpost from a ridiculous angle or repeatedly banging a footy “curveball’’ through a basketball ring from 30m the most difficult?
Readers are asked to vote in the poll below to split the amazing skills of 11-year-old Liam Westdijk, Jackson Smith, 16, and the combined efforts of Brandon Hancock, Bryce Linford, both 21, and Harrison Veitch, 18, and decide the state’s trick shot king.
The winner will have a chance to be part of a shoot-off with Port Adelaide’s Jarman Impey.
Liam, a budding Mitcham Hawks under-12s star, entered a 30-second video of some of his miraculous football sharpshooting, including sinking a footy through a basketball ring from about 10m.
“We had to do a school project on something we love doing and I chose trick shots (so) I put together a video with some of my basketball and football tricks,’’ he said.
“When I saw The Advertiser competition I decided to enter the football tricks.”
Jackson Smith’s entry showed him repeatedly booting a football through a basketball ring from 25m-30 metres out.
The Henley Sharks and Glenelg FC under-16s sharpshooter has spent years honing his (bare) foot skills in the backyard.
“I saw some other people doing (trick shots) with basketballs on YouTube so I thought I’d give it a go with a footy,’’ the St Michael’s High School student said. “At first some (mates) were a bit doubtful but I showed them the tape — it looks pretty cool going through the hoop.’’
Uni mates Brandon Hancock, Bryce Linford and Harrison Veitch, 18, took their skills to new heights, firing off shots from the cliffs at Port Hughes.
“(The video) is the best of the best kind of stuff and we put it together over time,’’ Brandon said.
Voting closes at 9am, Monday, August 24.
