THREE members of West Adelaide's embattled board will not seek re-election at the club's Annual General Meeting in February.
THREE members of West Adelaide Football Club's embattled board will not seek re-election at the club's Annual General Meeting in February.
Four board positions will become vacant at the AGM, where the board will present the findings of a year long financial review which is expected to shed more light on the disappearance of more than $100,000 from the club.
Wayne Henson and David Tidswell have both told the club they will not contest their positions on February 10, while new chief executive John Kantilaftas was required to step down.
Former SAPOL Assistant Commissioner Graeme Barton will contest his position, while president Richard Sykes will also stand for re-election.
The club last month said missing money was uncovered in October after a new financial accouning system was introduced. It said the money, the amount of which it would not confirm, was later fully recouped
A board member of the club told the Weekly Times Messenger the club worked with family members of a former employee to recover the missing money, understood to be more than $100,000.
The club is understood to have since been in contact with police but a police investigation has not been launched.
Also at February's AGM, members will be asked to vote on a change to the club's constitution proposed by former player Bernie Conlen.
The club is yet to divulge the proposed change but the Weekly Times Messenger understands Mr Conlen wants a rule scrapped which requires club members to give 28 days wrriten notice before raising an issue at the AGM.
The board has said it supports the change.
Talk last month among members of calling a Special Annual General Meeting and demanding a full spill of the board is understood to have cooled.
A member who was involved in talks said he first wanted to let the current board outline the findings of its review.
Among those understood to be interesting in standing for board positions at the AGM are former player, now club historian, Mark Beswick and current Westonians treasurer Troy Abbott.
It is unclear whether anyone will contest the club presidency against of Mr Sykes.
