THE dreaded bye rounds are over, SuperCoaches and it’s time to attack the run home. Is your team complete? How many trades do you have left? And how is your bench cover looking?
The Phantom is here to answer all of your SuperCoach questions as we emerge from the carnage of the past three weeks.
TRELOAR TO THE FLOOR
It’s smooth sailing from here on in SuperCoaches, right?
Ha.
More than 6500 SuperCoaches traded in Collingwood star Adam Treloar – the sixth-highet scorer in the game – after the Magpies bye in Round 13.
It was a great buy. After tidying up a few areas of his game, Treloar has been a prolific scorer in 2018, finally taking over from skipper Scott Pendlebury as the SuperCoach midfield king at Collingwood.
But Treloar injured a hamstring against the Blues and will miss up to two months.
It’s a cruel game.
It’s likely you considered classy GWS midfielder Josh Kelly, instead of Treloar, last week so, if that is the case, Kelly is the obvious replacement option this week.
Kelly followed up his 146 points against the Suns prior to the bye with a 149 points against the Lions. With a breakeven of 55, he’s on the rise but Kelly is still available for a $50k discount on his 2018 starting price.
Otherwise, if you need a direct swap, Carlton’s Patrick Cripps, fresh off a round-high 187 points against the Magpies. At $544k, the contested-ball beast is very well priced, considering he is now the second-ranked SuperCoach midfielder, behind Hawk Tom Mitchell.
If you’re after a point-of-difference - and consistency - consider Eagle Andrew Gaff, who posted 122 points against the Bombers - his 10th SuperCoach ton for the year.
The Phantom jumped on two weeks ago.
TOP BILLINGS OR ONE-NIGHT ONLY?
There are plenty of SuperCoaches out there considering trading in Jack Billings at the bargain price of $333k, after his 99-point performance on return to the senior side in Round 13. While it’s unlikely he get this cheap again with a breakeven of 45, let’s just see if he can reproduce that form this week before jumping on. We all know what Billings is capable of but some - The Phantom included - have been left scarred by his first half of 2018.
McLEAN SWIPE
After 10 rounds and an average of 111, Bulldog Toby McLean seemed the must-have SuperCoach forward in 2018. Fast forward four weeks and McLean’s average has fallen to 101 after scores of 63, 52 and 86 in the past three matches. The 22-year-old is available for $15k less than his starting price ahead of Round 15. And with a breakeven of 137, he may fall even further.
