A FAMILY atmosphere and a parochial home crowd will give the Aldinga Sharks a much-needed boost when they take on Marion on Saturday.

A FAMILY atmosphere and a parochial home crowd will give the Aldinga Sharks a much-needed boost when they take on Marion on Saturday.

The Sharks will be looking for an improved showing on the back of strong community support after being thrashed by a total of 711 points in their first three games of the Southern Football League season.

A family day is being planned at the Aldinga Oval match including footy showbags, courtesy of The Advertiser.

The 300 free showbags include complete Best & Fairest footy cards collections, two for one Wallis movie tickets, a supporter cow bell and Crows and Power team posters.

Free entry to the game and a free barbecue will also be available to footy fans thanks to Gawler River Cattle Co and Hackham IGA.

Senior Aldinga player Tyler Harman is urging the local community to get behind the struggling Sharks and says an improved showing is on the cards.

Harman says the positive attitude from everyone involved with the club has been a real asset.

“People are starting to reach out ... it’s not so much negative anymore; it’s more on how to go about improving,” the former captain says.

“Ever since the publicity and the new interim coach it’s been promising on the training track and the players are getting behind him and the club.

“We are looking at being competitive for four quarters and if we can put some of what we train for into play hopefully we can reflect that on the scoreboard.”

Harman says the playing group is taking inspiration from the Sharks’ officials, volunteers and supporters who work tirelessly behind the scene to keep the club going.

“We want to improve for them and hopefully turn things around.”

Aldinga Sharks mini-league player Brayden Hooper, 9, who is about to start his third season with the club, says he can’t wait for the big game on Saturday and scoring the footy cards in the free showbag.

“(I’m excited about) seeing them win, having fun and being with the family,” Brayden says.

“I’m hoping for a lot of goals.”

Gates open at 9.30am. The big game will be at 2.30pm
