Picket Palace has done it again.

Just weeks after their punk hit dedicated to Essendon’s Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti went viral, the Melbourne band has released a song about Richmond great and commentator Matthew Richardson.

The aptly named ‘Richo’ features footage of Richardson and fellow Channel 7 commentators Brian Taylor and Cameron Ling.

It references some of the most memorable moments from the Tigers great’s 282-game career, from the 2007 thriller against Essendon where he was adjudged to have pushed Mal Michael in the back before goaling on the run, to the 2008 Brownlow Medal when Richardson finished two votes behind Adam Cooney.

Richardson features prominently in the film clip, even playing a tambourine towards the end of the song.

The lyrics include:

“Who’s that coming onto the wing? You know you’ve got to kick it to him.

“Who’s that one out in the square, big hands and beautiful hair.

“Who’s that talking on TV, with Lingy and BT? He’s charismatic as can be. None of this ‘oh boy wowee’.

“How’s that hands in the back.

“He’s more than just a footballer Richo, he’s more than a commentator, he’s somewhat of a father figure to me. A nice warm pat on the back from you would sort me for life I reckon.

“You should have won that Brownlow, you were robbed.
