PORT Adelaide is not putting a timeline on Paddy Ryder’s return to football after the ruckman had surgery for a depressed cheekbone.

Ryder suffered the injury in an accidental head clash with teammate Robbie Gray in the final quarter of Saturday’s JLT Series win over North Melbourne at Alberton Oval.

While coach Ken Hinkley was bullish his star big man would be available to play Melbourne at the MCG on March 23, the Power did not detail his expected recovery time in its injury update on Monday.

In a statement the club said Ryder had undergone successful surgery and was enjoying four days off training like the rest of his teammates.

The news wasn’t as good for defender Jarrod Leinert who is off training indefinitely after scans revealed he had suffered a medial ligament strain in Saturday’s game against the Kangaroos.

Leinert did not finish the game after reporting knee soreness and scans on Sunday revealed his injury.

Midfielder Jake Patmore had surgery on Monday after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in the SANFL on Friday night and he is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Meanwhile young forward Todd Marshall has been fined $3000 for rough conduct for an incident involving North Melbourne’s Sam Wright during the second quarter on Saturday.

Marshall can accept a $2000 sanction with an early guilty plea after his bump on Wright was graded as careless conduct with low impact to the head.
