Star Port Adelaide goalsneak Chad Wingard declared fit to face Brisbane

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has declared brilliant forward Chad Wingard a certain starter against the Brisbane Lions at Adelaide Oval tomorrow.

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has declared brilliant forward Chad Wingard a certain starter against the Brisbane Lions at Adelaide Oval tomorrow.

And he says key forward Todd Marshall and wingman Jared Polec — who joined Wingard on being on very light duties at training on Friday morning — will also play against the Lions.

Wingard reported hamstring soreness late in the Power’s stunning come-from-behind win against Sydney on Sunday and had been in some doubt for this week.

But Hinkley on Friday quashed any concerns.

“He’s fine, he’ll play,’’ he said.

“He’s playing and you know what I'm like, I’ll tell you (the truth).

“If he was to be sore tomorrow or he doesn’t quite get through the warm-up that will be the only reason he won't play.

“But he’ll be playing. After he came off the ground last week he went back on and still went at full speed, went at the contests the right way and still got through.

“So it was just more an awareness. He’s had some issues through the off-season and it’s just another one of those little bits, but nothing that stops him.

“He ran at high speed (on Thursday), so there's no problems.’’

Hinkley said Marshall and Polec, who were sore after the Swans win, are also fine to play.

“Everyone is fine, the team will be as picked,’’ he said.

This means Port will take the same 22 who stunned Sydney into the Brisbane match.

“That’s always good and shows you are in good form,’’ Hinkley said.
