Sam Powell-Pepper has put his 45 teammates on Port Adelaide’s indigenous guernsey he designed for this weekend but there’s also one old one he hasn’t forgotten and is looking forward to running into on Saturday — Chad Wingard.
Wingard, who was traded to Hawthorn last season, is a chance to return to the Hawks’ side to play the Power in Launceston.
“I’m looking forward to playing against him, he was one of our close brothers here and there will be no hard feelings,” Powell-Pepper said.
“We will be coming together as it’s indigenous round, play with the flair that we normally do and then catch up after the game.
“Everyone is on good terms, he’s one of our brothers, I played with him for two years so we’re pretty close.”

The Powell-Pepper designed guernsey represents the 16 indigenous players and staff at Port Adelaide, the tracks of the club’s supporters, Alberton Oval the Port River and the 46 players on the list who he says are beating to the one heart.
“(Aboriginal programs director) Pauly (Vandenbergh) came to me in the pre-season and asked if I wanted to design the indigenous jumper this year and I took it straight away, it’s definitely something I’m proud of,” he said.
The club will wear the guernsey against Hawthorn in Launceston, in China against St Kilda then at home against Geelong in Round 14.
Ruckman Scott Lycett has been nursing an adductor injury this week and trained with his left leg strapped while Tom Jonas and Robbie Gray both trained strongly and are in line to return from their respective injuries.
“I spoke to Scotty (Lycett) and he’s moving all right, I think he should be right for this weekend,” Powell-Pepper said.
The 21-year-old midfielder said he had never been happier at Port Adelaide and he has a lot to thank housemate Travis Boak for.
“I’m a lot more relaxed and I’m just enjoying each game, I don’t have too many things to worry about I’m loving life.
“Living with Boaky he’s playing good footy as well so overall I’m pretty happy.
“We don’t talk too much about footy, it’s more having a laugh and joking around like brothers.
“I pretty much copy whatever he does, eat, recovery.
“I moved in with him early last year and I’m loving it, I’m not moving out any time soon.
“It’s definitely changed the course of my life, last year I had a few challenges and learned quite a bit in a short period of time and had to mature quickly, so having him there to lean on and learn about footy and also life is pretty good.”
