Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray is ready and raring to make amends for a disappointing 2019 wishing the AFL season was starting now.
“I’m really excited about,’’ Gray said on SEN SA Breakfast.
“I wish we were playing this week, I’m really keen for it.

“It was a bit of a tough year personally and as a team so I am keen to get back out there and go a little bit better,’’ he said.
Gray said he was focused on building on a strong foundation laid at Port’s pre-season camp in Queensland ahead of the 2020 AFL season.
“I’m feeling really good, back in training feeling really positive with how it’s all going,’’ Gray added.
“I just want to keep building on that during the break,’’ he said.
Gray said Port again came home from their Queensland trip to the Sunshine Coast in a good place.
“We trained really hard, got plenty of training in and went through some stuff from a game plan point of view and the way we want to play, it was a good trip all around,’’ Gray said.
Gray said their latest crop of draftees had again highlighted just how ready the future generation are for AFL football after a massive 2019 season where Port had six debutants.
“The young boys have fitted in really well, I think we’ve got some players there,’’ Gray said.
“Obviously the blokes who came in last year had a real impact for us and these young boys are looking pretty good as well, so it’s exciting.
“Young boys these days come in pretty well prepared, they’re really well trained up these day and that’s why you see them come in and able to AFL footy early on, that’s change a little bit.
“It’s a big step up for them, but they handle it really well, keen to learn, keen to work hard,’’ he said.
Like the majority of the football world, Gray said he was surprised by the news of the retirement of star Richmond key defender Alex Rance on Thursday.
“I was shocked, I didn’t see that coming,’’ Gray said.
“He’s got a lot of stuff outside of footy, he’s been a champion of the game and certainly wish him all the best,’’ he said.
