Power player keen to show they are better than their horror show against Kangaroos

Port Adelaide’s finals fate is out of its hands, so all the Power players will be focused on is their performance against the Dockers after last Saturday night’s shocker, says Travis Boak.

Even if Port Adelaide’s season is over by the time it takes to the field against Fremantle on Sunday, Power players will put in a performance star Travis Boak says.

After being thrashed by North Melbourne on Saturday, a performance Boak said was up there with the worst losses he has sustained in his 13-year career, the Power now need fierce rivals Adelaide to beat Bulldogs to be any chance of playing finals football.

This will mean the Power’s finals hopes could either be over or still alive before they take on the Dockers in the last home and away game of 2019.

Boak said regardless of results elsewhere the Power would bounce back from the Roos thrashing.

“What we control is how we play on Sunday and we will go out there no matter what and put in a better performance,” he said.

“The mood won’t change, we have to go out there and put in a performance no matter what.

“Yeah we will know if we are playing finals but we will go out there and play no matter what.”

A number of players did not train on Tuesday at Adelaide Oval, instead doing work at Alberton.

This included co-captain Ollie Wines and young gun Xavier Duursma, but Boak said it was more about managing them.

He said Scott Lycett had pushed his case for a return to the AFL after spending some time in the SANFL.

“He has gone back and performed extremely well,” he said.

“So I would say he has put up his hand … he will be right up there.”
