PORT Adelaide wingman Karl Amon says the club almost feels like a different place after the most significant clean-out at Alberton in more than 10 years.

The Power made 11 changes to its list after its season ended with a heartbreaking loss to West Coast in the elimination final and brought in top-end talent to replace them.

Steven Motlop (Geelong), Tom Rockliff (Brisbane) and Jack Watts (Melbourne) headline the additions while Jack Trengove (Melbourne) and Lindsay Thomas (North Melbourne) are trying to extend their careers after being thrown a lifeline.

They also picked up five players in the national draft including former Melbourne speedster Dom Barry who impressed with Glenelg in the SANFL.

Matthew Lobbe, Matthew White, Angus Monfries, Jackson Trengove, Aaron Young, Jarman Impey, Logan Austin, Brett Eddy, Jesse Palmer, Brendon Ah Chee and Nathan Krakouer are all gone from the 2017 list.

“There are a lot of fresh faces around the football club which is a good thing, we’ve brought in some really good talent, so we’re going to work really hard in the off-season and try to form good connections with each other and see what happens,” Amon said.

“It does put pressure on, it will make competition for spots stronger and we’re going to have some really good depth in the reserves and that’s going to be pushing blokes to play AFL football so it’s a really good thing for us.”

The Power is into its final two weeks of training before Christmas and Amon has already made clear his commitment to improving by fronting in top shape.

The 22-year-old took out the Power’s first 2km time trial of pre-season despite a niggling knee injury during the break.

“My off-season was a little bit restricted, I had a bit of knee soreness coming off last year but it was good to freshen up physically and mentally so I tried to come back in as good a nick as I could,” Amon said.

“To take that (time trial) out was handy but I’m just trying to push myself on the track.”

Amon signed a two-year contract extension this season that will take him up to the end of 2019 with the Power.

He was drafted with Pick No.68 in the 2013 national draft and has since played 34 games.

He played 14 this season after overcoming a fractured patella that sidelined him for nearly two months.
